Introduction to Warren Delta Railway

After a sabbatical of some 20 years I have started to dabble with the idea of creating a model railway again.

The title for my railway is an anagram of my names; as I saw this as being the easiest way to describe what I intend building. I do not intend to try and replicate any current or past railway and I really want to just put into and onto the layout that which I find pleasurable and which will give me enjoyment.

I still have a box of some models and carriages from previous layout and sojourns into the hobby. And it is really is a hobby which although is time consuming also does provide for many hours of entertainment and ongoing use of the creative spirit as the model evolves into that final product. Does it ever really finish; I will be able to answer that question when I get there.

The first step is going to be to design my layout and this is where the first conundrum comes into play. Currently we are living and rental accommodation which has quite a good space in the outdoor rumpus room. I am at the same time mindful that this will not be a permanent home as the intent is to purchase something at a later stage should everything work out regarding PR visas, work, et  al. Thus I need to come up with a design which will fulfill short term aspirations while also being relocatable. But more on this matter later on.

While pondering the design I intend to repair that current models that I have. When opening the box it became quite apparent that they have not taken the moving around over the past 20 years and 3 continents very well. This will give me the opportunity to get started while the design process is ongoing.
